Chapter 15

Knox lay down beside Lilly, and whether she admitted it or not, her body actually moved closer to him. Her wolf knew, whether or not her human side would admit it.

Getting closer, Knox pulled the covers back, took Lilly’s shoes off, and crawled in beside her, pulling her body against him. He had never felt this complete in his life. She did that for him. The calm he craved was now deep in his soul as he snuggled up to his mate. Tomorrow would be a huge test for the both of them. He knew he’d need his strength as he drifted off.

Lilly’s stomach growled as she woke up. She felt so warm and cozy when she finally opened her eyes. She could smell bacon frying in a pan when an arm moved around her waist. Turning around, she was shocked to see that it was the Prince who held on to her. He was smiling.

“Did you sleep here all night?” Lilly asked.

“Yes, and it was the best sleep I ever had. But my stomach, and by the sound of it, yours too is hungry. Lilly just nodded. She could feel her face getting hot. She tried to move but the Prince still had his arm around her.

“Sorry, I don’t want to let you go.” Knox smiled.

Lilly swallowed hard. This was a lot to take in. Did she believe him or was this just another one of his sick jokes? Her heart told her no. Her wolf said no, but her head was a completely different organ that most of the time was a logical thinker. Until now, because she was going to give him a chance until he gave her a reason to do otherwise.

The Prince let her go. Slowly, she got up and walked to the bathroom. Before she closed the door, she grabbed her clothes, and went in to take a shower. Just before closing the door, she turned around and noticed that the Prince was watching every move she made, as if she was going to disappear.

She continued to ask herself, why me? She decided that she was going home, at least for a while. She needed to, at least, check on Marcus. She was mad at him but she loved him. He was the only family she had left. She didn’t wish sickness on anyone, no matter what they did to her.

She got out of the shower, dressed, and then pulled her hair back into a ponytail. Lilly loved the dress she was wearing. She liked the boots that Tamara had picked out for her. They bought them on sale, but it still looked nice and sexy from what Tamara told her.

Tamara? Could she trust her best friend? She had to be the one that told the Prince where she was. Did she do it because he was the Prince, or did they force her? These were questions she needed answers to.

Lilly opened the bathroom door to the most heavenly smell. Breakfast was always her favorite meal.
